Personal Message:
The happy days at Mapua when we were young and full of dreams are a thing of the past. We were caught unaware of the passage of time. Here we are in the twilight stage of our life and fortunate enough that we will be able to see each other again in our upcoming golden reunion. This coming jubilee is the beginning of the last chapter in our journey. It is a wise choice to celebrate this great event in our homeland and have the opportunity to see our Alma Mater again. It seems just yesterday when we were young and seeing older people through the years and thinking that they were years away from us and never thought that old age will suddenly creep on us and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we would be. How did we get old so fast? Where did all those years go?

I have memories of how it was back then at Mapua when each one of us looks young and vibrant. But here it is, our youth is gone: Diminished vision, lots of aches and pains for some of us, and the loss of strength and ability to do things that we wish we had done but never did. Here we are, getting bald and gray and can not accept the reality of being old and mask the grayness of our hair to make other people think we are younger than what we actually are. Now we know first hand what it is being old.

We are in the last chapter into our golden years and nobody knows how long this journey will last, maybe ten, and hopefully 30 or more years. Life goes by so quickly, so for sure these coming years will be here faster than we think, so whatever we want to accomplish in our remaining years, we have to do it now. Don't put off things as we used to do.

Let us make the years ahead a fantastic one. Today is the first day of the remaining years of our life. The past is history. The best years are not the years of yesterday but the years ahead of us. Life is good. Let us live it and enjoy it to the fullest. Keep busy learning another language, take dance lessons, read newspapers and books, or play card games or mahjong with friends. These activities help stimulate the brain and prevent or lessen the onset of flagging memory that often come with old age. Stay healthy by exercising and eating moderately, working around the house, and walking daily. Lastly, we need to take more vacations and cruises and attend all gatherings and reunions with relatives, friends and classmates because life could end sooner than what we wanted it to last.
